You'll have to wait until Halloween to see it on Brooks. I can't believe I actually started it. It helps that I'm with Allie and she's being my crafting cheerleader.

Sneak Peak
Here's a preview of the costume I'm working on:

Random thoughts way past midnight
I'm up late tonight not able to sleep. I worked night shifts over the weekend and can't get back on a regular schedule. Brooks and I are hanging out in Texas with Troy (Chris's brother), Allie and their three cute girls. I have to say that I'm super brave for daring to fly alone with a three month old baby. I knew it was going to be a breeze and it really was. We only had three moments where it was a little hard. Each time it was when he wanted to fall asleep and was so tired but couldn't. He falls asleep best when left alone wrapped in a blanket. Not possible on the airplanes. I'd put him in the moby (a front carrier wrap that I swear by) and bounce him while I was sitting. That's really hard to keep up for more than thirty seconds. Once I was able to stand in the aisle and rock him to sleep, that worked much better. I'm grateful that things went so well but now I'm starting to freak out about the flight home cause this one was so breezy and it can't be that easy twice. He only got hungry once when we had a short layover in Denver. I know if he has to eat on the plane he'll puke. I was lucky to sit by a cute retired couple that didn't mind I had a baby. They had a lot of fun entertaining Brooks and I really appreciated it.
I think I'm going to make Brooks's Halloween costume myself. I like projects but it's rare that I finish them. Just ask Chris how many unfinished good ideas I have floating around the house. I can't decide between a lion (cute) or a tree car freshener (funny) I guess it really depends on what's easier.
Brooks is growing and changing so fast. He's been able to roll to his side since he was a couple weeks old because he liked to stay tucked in a ball. Now he's rolling to his side and staying there for a while. He tries so hard to get to his tummy but his little arm and shoulder keep getting in his way. While he's on his side he gets his face into the blanket on the floor as much as he can and rubs his nose back and forth on it. It usually isn't until he's startled by something that he'll roll back onto his back again. Just recently he's started purposefully grabbing objects. I couldn't be more proud. Most parents think this is a big deal but I feel that it's especially a huge one for us. After Brooks was born and diagnosed with bleeding on his brain, we were really scared about his development (and still are a little). For a while he was really behind with his strength and coordination to the point that he's being seen by Early Intervention (a wonderful program with great therapists). Every two weeks Meghan (his therapist) tracks his progress and gives me specific exercises and other things to do with him. It has really paid off. Last week was great because she came to see him and didn't have any suggestions!!! Wahoo! I love early intervention but I'm hoping we've caught up and won't need them anymore.
Here are some pictures for being so patient reading the blog:
He loves his uncle Chris but especially Chris's sunglasses. He's trying to look cool here. I think he did a pretty good job.

He Can Roll!
Okay, so he only did it once today, but HE DID IT! Wahoo. Love meeting those milestones. We quickly got the video camera rolling after and of course he wouldn't do it again. Maybe we'll catch it on round number two.
In other news. I'm back to work. It hasn't been bad at all and I've actually enjoyed working again. I'm just nervous for this week when I have to sleep when Brooks takes naps. We'll see if I'm a zombie or not.
Chris is racing in the LOTOJA on Saturday. Wish him luck. It's a road bike race from Logan, UT to Jackson, WY. Crazy.
We had almost the whole family over for dinner a couple Sundays ago. It was fun but very cozy at our place. Brooks loves being held by his Aunt Erin. She didn't have any complaints.

Brooks loves his cousin, Beck isn't quite so sure yet how he feels. These guys don't spend enough time together.

Tiff and I both celebrated turning 25 years this summer. We attended a wonderful party in her honor full of goodies. Always enjoy her parties.

The shirt that Brooks is wearing is complements of Tiff. She made it all by herself! It's a bit of an inside joke, but translates to: "I can hear but I don't understand." Used that one a lot in China.

A good family friend came home from his mission. It was fun to hang out and visit with friends. When we left we realized that we hadn't even talked to Derek. He had a lot of visitors. (Thanks for the romper Adaire! Super cute!)

Our good friends had a baby last week. She is so darling. It's fun to hold such a small baby again. They change and grow so fast.

Brooks loves that bath. I think he's going to be a swimmer. He will kick and splash in the bath for twenty minutes. It wears him out though.

We went to the Gangrene film festival in Layton on Friday night. The Rhine Stone Roper was there. He could do these really crazy roping tricks, gun spinning and knife throwing. I didn't know people still did that. It was a blast. Uncle Chris had a five second movie that screened in the festival.

Grandpa Newey turned 80 this year and Grandma and Grandpa celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. We had a great party with aunts, uncles and cousins at their home. On our way up to their house (above the Zoo) Chris and I were stuck behind a Jason's Deli delivery guy on a bike on the U campus. We finally pulled up next to him and asked if he was going to my grandparent's house. HE sure was. We lightened his load by putting everything from his trailer into our car. It still took him 20 minutes to get to their house. It was pretty funny, but the poor guy was on a fixie. NUTS!

My brother Chris and Brooks showed up in matching shoes to the party. Chris bought Brooks his shoes as a gift. Then Beck showed up wearing his sambas.

We went with some friends to the BEES game on Saturday night. We had a lot of fun. I probably only watched about ten minutes of the game total. Talking is more fun. Brooks did really well at the game except when there were explosions of cheers and claps. I don't blame him.

Brooks tried on his tux for Chris's brother's wedding later this week. He looks so handsome. I think the shoes make it even cooler.

Brooks is practicing looking wasted after the party. I think he did a pretty good job.
